General guidelines to be accepted into a free medicine program:

**Guidelines below are listed in generalities with respect to all programs. See the drug program tables for better guidelines, however, rely ultimately on information obtained directly from the program itself.

Patient applicant usually has no insurance coverage for out-patient prescription medicine

Patient applicant does qualify for any government program that distributes prescription medication.

Patient applicant usually has to be a U.S. resident and/or a citizen.

Patient applicant's financial means prevents him/her from purchasing prescription medication without undue hardship

Patient applicant must fall under the program's financial guidelines

Patient applicant with a family income ranging from below poverty upwards to $60,000 but programs accepting individuals in the higher range are the exception.
